By the way I decided that I definitely want to learn another language. First I thought I might learn Japanese but these nice people from Taiwan and Hongkong convinved me in learning Chinese, as there are more people talking that language and even in Malaysia and Singapore you can communicate. Awesome. When I'm back in Switzerland, or even already here in Australia, I want to start learning Chinese. Oh my god this is going to be such a big big challenge!
But that is going to be awesome. Imagine if I could read a book in Chinese?!
Anyway, after our multi-cultural discussions we hopped in the bus. On our way to some place called Indian Head we saw four dingos. Our tourguide asked us again (he already asked us yesterday) if we wanted to go for the airplane taking off the beach and have a good overview over the island. Margot was so into it she definitely wanted to go. It was $75 so I said to her that I want to join her. We convinced Eden to come with us, too. That was the best decision ever! That was just amazing!!!
The airplane was tiny, only six people could fit in it. We were so excited... The pilot was dressed so funny. He was wearing a white shirt, sunglasses, blue shorts, white knee socks and black shoes. He was about 25 years old and his profession made him look so sexy.
In the plane I was sitting next to Edan, in front of me there was Margot and next to her the nice pilot. The take off was very smooth and the view just beautiful... The adrenaline kick was massive. We had an awesome view over the ocean and later on also the island.
Happy and still all excited we told our other travelling mates about our adventure while we drove to the champagner pool. We went for a nice swim there, I collected some seaweed and we left just before the crowd came. We drove back (just over the hill) and climbed up a big rock to get another breathtaking view. The ocean was light blue and there was a strong wind blowing. Margot took some awesome photos, I hope I can somehow somewhen show them to you. She's a really good photographer. Funny, shes a landscape architect and the Korean couple are architect students in their homecountry and I'm going to be an architect. Perfect group, isn't it?
We had lunch in a park, our tourguide, his name is Beaux by the way, not Ban. The lunch was containing breadrolls, lettuce, some more vegetables and meat. That was actually not too bad. In the afternoon we had a big program again. We drove to a creek, the biggest one on the island with fresh drinkable water! There was this path made out of wood, going along the creek for about 50-75 metres and it stopped with stairs down to the creek. So we put on our swimmers and went there. You could just lay down and float with the water. That was the most beautiful creek I ever saw! Me and Margot had a blast. You could also walk, it was not that deep acutally. Some people did that. The ground of the creek was just sand and the water was very transparent. On both sides there was the beautiful 'rainforest' (just green stuff). And if you kept going you ended up in the sea. Awesome! And it was so nice chilly, lovely refreshment. Edan, Emma, the Korean couple and the other three Chinese guys joined us for another round. I'm afraid I don't know the names of the Korean couple... I just know his name is Uk. But you pronounce it 'uc'.
After our refreshment we went sandblow climbing. That was tough as it was quite warm, we would have rather done these two things the other way around. The sandblow was massive.
Another cute thing that happened... Edan had a question abou the upcoming day. So he went to Margot and said: 'Do you know if we can ... uhm... wash our bodies after breakfast?'
Apparently he forgot the word for 'shower'. Again I couldn't resist that was just the cutest thing I've heard and we laughed all together. Don't worry I'm sure he didn't get me wrong.
My first Chinese lesson!
Back in the resort I had a nice long talk with Edan and Emma about the Chinese language and their letters. They taught me the system and some rules of how sentences and words are built and some more basics. I wrote everything down for myself, as it was really interesting and I always wanted to know this. It was also amazing that they have another numer-system. I knew that they had another system!!! It was always a feeling that I had but everytime I told someone they were just laughing at me and saying that why should they have another system but they dooo!!! If they want to write eleven, they don't just write two times number one, they have a totally different 'sign' for that and you acutally can't just continue counting if you don't know what it looks like, not like with our system where you can write numbers to infinity. And acutally its clever because you don't get these endless long numbers.
And I was curious about how they type on their phone because you can't have a key with 3'000 different words on it. So it's acutally quite funny how it works... For example, you have 26 or something different louds and they have letters for that but then it varies also about the sound of the loud. So e.g. you have the loud 'k' but then there are 5 ways how you actually say the 'k'. So you type in the 'k' and than there are these 5 ways (not quite sure about how many it was) of how you pronounce it on the key with kind of sings (they look like that: - / • \ ^ ...). Thats how you than type in the sound of the word and than you get a collection of words with the same sound but different meanings and you just choose from them. Awesome, isn't it?
